<p>Through this reunion dinner, we aim not only to uphold the cherished tradition of reunion in Chinese culture but also to bring the warmth of "home" to every family we have supported. Whether they are children, teenagers, or the elderly, everyone is part of the One Hope family—our most precious "loved ones."</p>
<p>For some seniors, it has been years since they last enjoyed a hot and hearty reunion meal. For some children, they have never experienced the joy of tossing Yee Sang. With this meal, we hope to not only fill their stomachs but also warm their hearts.</p>

2025 CNY Heartwarming Reunion Lunch

<p>As the Lunar New Year approaches, One Hope Charity is spreading warmth by distributing the first batch of 1,000 boxes of mandarin to hospitals and the Seberang Perai City Council.</p>
<p>We deeply understand the immense pressure and challenges that frontline healthcare workers have faced over the past year in safeguarding public health. At the same time, patients battling illnesses need more care and encouragement.</p>
<p>The first batch of mandarin will be delivered to five hospitals: Seberang Jaya Hospital, Bukit Mertajam Hospital, Kepala Batas Hospital, Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar, and Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani.</p>
<p>Mandarin oranges symbolize good fortune and prosperity. Through this small gesture, we hope to bring warmth and hope to healthcare workers, patients, and the staff of the Seberang Perai City Council. We believe this act of kindness will not only bring them festive joy but also make them feel the warmth and support from the community.</p>

<p>The annual giving of essential needs to the poor by One Hope Charity will be held on November 10th to bring warmth to those who are cared for. This year, in conjunction with One Hope Charity's 22nd anniversary, 8,000 essential supplies and red packets worth RM300 were prepared for distribution to poor families on both Penang island and the mainland.</p>
<p>This year, the campaign will be held on 10th of November (Sunday) at 8am till 12pm at concept hall of Auto City Juru.</p>

<p>For those who is yet to apply from the state assembly (YB) office of Seberang Perai &amp; Penang, the application will be on 13th of October (Sunday) at 9am at concept hall of Auto City Juru.</p>
<p>Applicants must be Malaysian citizens from underprivileged, low-income, or single-parent families (a copy of the death or divorce certificate must be provided). Please bring the original and a copy of your identity card, along with utility bills for electricity and water from the last three months. Our team will conduct an on-site review, and those who meet the criteria will receive a voucher that can be redeemed for supplies and a red packet on the day of the event.</p>

2024 Essential Items Contribution

<p>One Hope Charity has launched the “One Hope Philanthrokidz” initiative, distributing 30,000 colorful building block piggy banks to inspire primary school students to develop financial literacy and philanthropy. The goal is to encourage children to cultivate saving habits from a young age while planting seeds of kindness and charity, contributing to the betterment of society.</p>
<p>At the launch ceremony, Chairman Dato' Chua Sui Hau highlighted that the initiative aims to teach children the virtues of saving and giving back. One Hope Charity has also organized financial literacy seminars to help students build a strong foundation in financial management and social responsibility from an early age.</p>
<p>One Hope Charity has specially designed six different colors of the building block piggy banks, which students can assemble themselves. The first batch of 4,000 students from selected primary schools in the Central Seberang Perai district will benefit, with each student receiving three piggy banks for saving.</p>
<p>In addition, One Hope Charity has invited Dr. Kenneth Yew, a financial expert, to conduct financial literacy talks at several Chinese primary schools. The talks will teach students how to manage their pocket money, develop good habits of saving, spending, and sharing, and grasp basic financial concepts.</p>
<p>Interested students can also visit One Hope Charity’s service center to make a donation and receive one set of the colorful piggy banks. This initiative aims to encourage children to grow into future “Philanthrokidz” by saving and giving back, fostering a spirit of generosity and responsibility for the community.</p>

<p>They are a fortunate group, supported by the generosity and blessings of the community, accompanying them through difficult times. Every year during the reunion dinner, we can gather together to celebrate the new year, hoping for the same joy in the years to come, and looking forward to many more happy moments.</p>
<p>With the arrival of the Lunar New Year, One Hope Charity always cares about the groups that have received our assistance. After selection, we invited dozens of families to join us for a lunch gathering, celebrating and reuniting for the new year.</p>
<p>In addition to tossing the yee sang (a traditional Chinese New Year dish) and enjoying delicious food together, we also prepared Lunar New Year clothes, traditional snacks, and ang pao for the assisted families. We hope to lighten the economic burden for these families and provide them with love and care during this festive season.</p>
<p>Volunteers also presented New Year songs, offering heartfelt blessings for everyone's safety, health, joy, and well-being!</p>

2023 Essential Items Contribution & 21st Anniversary

<p>Prevention is better than cure and regular health checks can help to reduce the risk of getting serious diseases, so everyone knows the importance of undergoing regular health checks. However, for families facing financial difficulties, it is a difficult plan for them to implement.</p>
<p>In order to allow those from the underprivileged families to have their regular health checks, as well as to raise public awareness of health issues, ONE HOPE CHARITY will resume the organising of Health Carnival 2023 on 6 and 7 May (Saturday and Sunday), 8:00am to 2:00pm at the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena. Given that cancer is a very dangerous disease, this year’s blood test will also include a cancer index test.</p>
<p>There are a total of 25 tests and programmes that are open for the public. All checkings are free.</p>
<p>#Prior application is required for the following checkings:</p>
<p><strong>【Blood test (55 items for women/54 items for men), cancer index, liver scan, bone density test – prior application required】</strong></p>

<li>Only for Malaysian citizens aged 40 years and over from poor families, regardless of race and religion.</li>
<li>Submit the application at One Hope Charity Service Centre in Bukit Mertajam between 10:00am and 2:00pm from 14 to 16 April (Bring along the original and photocopy of MyKad, household utility bills – water and electricity bills and relevant documents for single parents)</li>
<li>After completing the test, results can be collected on 28 May. On the same day, you will receive a set of goodies worth RM200 each.</li>

<p><strong>【Vision test and free spectacles - prior application or school’s recommendation is required】</strong></p>

<li>One Hope Charity will be giving out 2,000 pairs of free spectacles to poor students and adults aged 40 years and over from low-income families.</li>
<li>Select the frame immediately if you need to wear glasses. Students are only permitted to make short-sighted glasses; seniors are only permitted to make ageing glasses.</li>
<li>Students can apply through their respective school or walk in to One Hope Charity Service Centre in Bukit Mertajam between 10:00am and 2:00pm from 14 to 16 April for application.</li>

<p><strong>【Heart examination – prior application, medical report or doctor’s recommendation is required】</strong></p>
<p>1.Heart examination will be conducted by National Heart Institution (IJN) in its special mobile track with electrocardiogram and ultrasound equipment for heart examination.</p>
<p>#The following checkings are open to public:</p>
<p>Eye disease examination (cataract, glaucoma, short-sightedness, long-sightedness), hearing test, dental, general physical examination (blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, BMI), physical therapy, traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture, osteopathy, human papillomavirus (HPV), mental health assessment, diet therapy, family planning, social insurance consultation, genetic testing for dementia, knee arthritis injections, organ donation campaigns, elderly warm-up exercises, blood donation, etc.</p>
<p>Stamps can be obtained for each checking, and people can redeem gifts by accumulating stamps. All checkings are performed by specialist doctors and medical staff in hospitals and clinics.</p>

2023 Health Carnival

<p>Festive meal during Chinese new year is normal for some families but towards the needy, they only wish that they will not starve.</p>
<p>One Hope Charity had prepared 240 packs of steamboat ingredients and soup based, CNY cookies, Pork Jerky and other can food as a gift during Chinese new year for the needy families. The beneficiaries are all selected by our committee.</p>
<p>One Hope Charity’s staff and volunteers distributed the items during the Chinese new year.</p>
<p>This is a small gift from the committee. With an angpau, we wish the beneficiaries happy and healthy always.</p>
