Description

After two years of marriage, a couple joyfully welcomed their first child, but their happiness was overshadowed when their baby was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. 4-month-old baby Zayn Lim Yu Tshen was diagnosed with heart holes and urgently needs surgery for repair. Now dependent on oxygen to survive, the parents are desperately calling for help from the public.

"The baby's heart has holes, causing him to frequently be hospitalized. Every time we see him with needles and tubes all over his tiny body, our hearts break. He is now relying on oxygen to stay alive. We just hope he can have the surgery as soon as possible to close the holes in his heart, otherwise his lungs are prone to bacterial infections, which could lead to more serious complications."

4-month-old baby Zayn Lim Yu Tshen, from Jitra, Kedah, has been diagnosed with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and atrial septal defect (ASD). Due to his heart condition, he is highly susceptible to bacterial infections and is frequently hospitalized. The doctors have advised that he undergo surgery to repair the heart defects as soon as possible to avoid further complications affecting his lungs.

【The baby has never experienced cyanosis, but frequent infections have led to hospitalizations. Without surgery, his lungs will be affected, and urgent treatment is needed】

Zayn Lim is the first child of his parents, who have been married for two years. Both parents are in good health, and although the mother suffers from low blood pressure, all prenatal checkups were normal, with the expected delivery date set for June 15. However, the baby did not arrive on time. On July 1, the mother was admitted to the hospital for induced labor due to signs of premature delivery. The doctor discovered the presence of meconium, leading to an emergency C-section.

After birth, the baby was immediately placed in the ICU for two days with oxygen support, followed by five days of observation in a regular ward. Afterward, he was discharged and moved into a confinement center with his mother. At the center, doctors noticed the baby was having difficulty breastfeeding and breathing rapidly. During a routine checkup, a heart murmur was detected, and he was referred to the hospital for further tests. The diagnosis confirmed a ventricular septal defect (VSD) and atrial septal defect (ASD). One of the holes, which was originally 5.8 mm, has now grown to 7 mm and requires urgent surgery.

The parents explained that their 4-month-old baby is weak and prone to infections, often requiring hospitalization, and relies on oxygen to survive. In order to save his life, he urgently needs surgery.

The father, Lim Yuen Kit (31), works as a procurement officer, and the mother, Lee Chew Fern (29), was previously a secretary and had planned to return to work after her maternity leave. However, due to their baby's heart condition, the couple has had to make frequent hospital visits. The mother has resigned from her job to care for the baby full-time. Currently, the family can only afford RM1,000 and urgently needs help to cover the remaining surgery costs.

After conducting a home visit, ONE HOPE CHARITY has decided to raise funds for the surgery costs required for Zayn Lim. The parents have agreed to fully entrust the fundraising efforts to ONE HOPE CHARITY, which will manage the collection of donations.
