Description

"If the surgery is not performed, our child will struggle to breathe, his oxygen levels will drop, and his life will be at risk. We live in constant fear and heartbreak, hoping that kind-hearted individuals will help us so our baby can undergo this crucial surgery as soon as possible."

Muhammad Aali Gibran Bin Akmal Hafiz, from Kepala Batas, Penang, was just two weeks old when doctors detected an abnormal heart murmur. Further examinations confirmed that he suffers from Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF)—a severe congenital heart defect.

At first, he showed no obvious symptoms. However, as he grows, his tiny heart is struggling to function properly. Recently, he has started experiencing shortness of breath and dangerously low oxygen levels. Doctors have warned that he must undergo heart repair surgery before his first birthday, or his life will be in grave danger.

Unfortunately, the RM80,000 surgery cost is an overwhelming financial burden for this humble family. Desperate and helpless, his parents have no choice but to reach out to the public for assistance, hoping to raise the necessary funds to give their baby a second chance at life.

During pregnancy, all prenatal check-ups for Muhammad Aali Gibran were normal. However, due to gestational diabetes and high blood pressure, his mother had to undergo a C-section on July 2, 2024. The baby was born weighing 3.05kg, seemingly healthy, and was discharged home with his mother.

Yet, at just 15 days old, a routine check-up for jaundice led to an unexpected discovery—a heart murmur. Further examinations confirmed that he was suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a severe congenital heart defect that includes pulmonary stenosis, ventricular septal defect, overriding aorta, and right ventricular hypertrophy. This condition disrupts normal blood circulation, leading to oxygen deprivation.

Initially, Aali showed no symptoms, but in recent weeks, his breathing difficulties have worsened, and his oxygen levels have dropped. Doctors had originally planned to wait until he reached 8 to 10kg for surgery, but due to his deteriorating condition, they now insist that the surgery must be performed urgently to save his life.

His heart defect has worsened, with the hole in his heart expanding from 8.6mm to 9.2mm. The only option now is immediate surgery, but the medical costs are far beyond what his young parents can afford.

His father, Akmal Hafiz Bin Rozelan (27 years old), is a technician earning RM4,000 per month, while his mother, Nurul Hazwani Binti Marshofi (25 years old), was a kindergarten teacher but became a full-time housewife to care for their son. Muhammad Aali is their only child.

After reviewing the case following a home visit, One Hope Charity agreed to assist Muhd Aali Gibran in raising his medical expenses. To kickstart the campaign, RM5,000 will be allocated from "Emergency Medical and Contingency Reserved Fund".
