Ghee Jin Hau, a 47-year-old from Sungai Petani, Kedah, was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) 8 years ago. Since then, he has undergone multiple rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, targeted drug therapies, and immunotherapy. The cancer has since spread to his spine, lungs, and pelvis. With his insurance limit exhausted, he is appealing for RM 86,000 to cover his ongoing medical expenses.

【Eight Years of Battling Cancer: Facing Hardships with Positivity and Resilience】

In mid-2016, Ghee Jin Hau discovered a swollen lump about 4 cm in size on his neck. Initially, he thought it was due to a heat-related condition and sought traditional Chinese medicine. However, in December, he began to feel pain, and after undergoing blood tests, his results showed abnormal levels. He was then referred to a specialist hospital, where he was diagnosed with Stage 4 nasopharyngeal carcinoma. He underwent a series of radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments in the hospital, which were successful in controlling the cancer cells. In 2019, he completed the treatment plan and began regular follow-ups.

Unfortunately, in December 2021, during a routine check-up, his doctor informed him that the cancer had spread to his spine and pelvis. He endured nine rounds of chemotherapy to combat the spread and bravely managed through various side effects.

To further inhibit the spread of cancer cells, his doctor recommended a new treatment plan, and immunotherapy showed promising results, with the cancer cells gradually shrinking. The doctor advised continuing with eight additional sessions.

Ghee Jin Hau works as a motorcycle repairman but has been working part-time as a driver since his illness, earning a modest income. His wife, 36-year-old, is an office clerk with a salary of RM 2,700, and they have an 8-year-old daughter.

Having exhausted his savings and pension funds, Ghee Jin Hau has sought assistance from One Hope Charity for the remaining RM 86,000 required for his medical expenses. He hopes to recover and continue accompanying his wife to watch their daughter grow.

After conducting a home assessment, One Hope Charity has decided to assist the family in raising the necessary funds. Ghee Jin Hau and his family have entrusted One Hope Charity to manage the fundraising campaign and collect donations.
