Urgent Fundraising – Chong Kee Cheong (Medical & Living Expenses)

Description
"The first time I saw my husband cry was when we were speaking to him while he was asleep. On the surface, he showed no reaction, but he could actually hear us—he just couldn't respond at that moment. Seeing him like this broke our hearts. We only hope he recovers soon."
Chong Kee Cheong, a devoted family man from Bukit Mertajam, suffered a sudden posterior stroke due to hypertension in late October last year. His condition was further complicated by kidney shrinkage, which led to fluid buildup in his lungs. He was hospitalized for nearly two months for treatment and observation before being discharged. However, the stroke caused brain damage, leaving him bedridden and unable to care for himself. Since returning home, his wife has been his primary caregiver.
Before the stroke, Chong Kee Cheong was a hardworking excavator driver, earning around RM7,000 per month, serving as the family's main financial provider. Now, he is in the golden recovery period, requiring consistent acupuncture and physiotherapy to maximize his chances of recovery, minimize long-term complications, and help him regain independence as soon as possible. However, these treatments require ongoing sessions and are extremely costly, placing a heavy financial burden on the family.
【After his stroke, we were completely lost. His recovery takes time and requires significant financial support】
Chong Kee Cheong had been living with hypertension for over 10 years. In late October last year, he experienced difficulty breathing and was rushed to the emergency room by his family. A CT scan confirmed that he had suffered a posterior stroke due to high blood pressure. Doctors also discovered that his kidneys had shrunk, leading to fluid buildup in his lungs. As a result, he now requires dialysis twice a week at the hospital.
Due to brain damage from the stroke, doctors performed a tracheostomy during his hospitalization to help him breathe. Even after being discharged, he remained unable to speak and bedridden, relying entirely on his family for daily care. He requires nasogastric feeding for nutrition, diapers, and regular physiotherapy and acupuncture. Additionally, as he cannot sit up on his own, every hospital visit for check-ups and dialysis requires ambulance transport, further straining the family’s finances.
Before his illness, Chong Kee Cheong was a self-employed excavator driver working in Kuala Lumpur, earning around RM7,000 per month as the family's primary breadwinner. His wife, Ng Lee Cheong (54), is a housewife who has always managed the household.
The couple has two sons, elder son (22) is a part-time student. He works Monday to Friday as an assistant engineer at a manufacturing company and attends online classes on weekends, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics while paying for his own fees.
Their younger son (17) is still in high school, actively involved in the basketball team and attending extra classes to prepare for his SPM exams.
After conducting a home visit and review, One Hope Charity has decided to launch a fundraiser to support Chong Kee Cheong’s medical, living, and educational expenses. An initial RM10,000 will be allocated from our "Emergency Medical and Contingency Fund" for this case.
