Urgent Fundraising – Celine Ong Yee (Heart Disease)

Description
“The moment our child was diagnosed with congenital heart disease, we were devastated. It felt like an endless battle, with countless hospital visits and life-threatening challenges. Now, she is finally at the last stage—the final surgery that offers her a chance at a normal life. We humbly seek your help to get her through this difficult time.”
Celine Ong Yee, a 17-year-old from Malacca, was diagnosed with a complex congenital heart defect at birth. She has undergone multiple heart surgeries and persevered with incredible resilience. Despite her condition, she managed to complete her primary education and is now preparing for her SPM examination.
Due to prolonged low blood oxygen levels, she often experiences cyanosis, causing her lips and fingernails to turn bluish. Doctors have recommended immediate surgery, but financial constraints have forced previous delays. With no other options left, her parents are now seeking help to raise RM76,210 for the surgery that could save their daughter’s life.

At just one month old, Celine was taken to a clinic for a fever, where doctors detected a heart murmur and referred her to the hospital. She was diagnosed with Tricuspid Atresia and Pulmonary Atresia with Ventricular Septal Defect (PA-VSD)—a complex congenital heart condition. Though the disease was severe, she initially showed no symptoms.
At one year old, Celine was referred to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for further examination. Doctors discovered her condition was critical and immediately performed a Glenn Shunt procedure to improve blood circulation. At age 10, she underwent a Fontan Procedure, but soon after, she developed a heart block that caused dangerously slow heart rates, requiring the implantation of a permanent pacemaker.
Despite multiple surgeries, Celine continues to suffer from oxygen deficiency and cyanosis. Doctors now recommend a Fenestration Fontan Occlusion-AFR, a minimally invasive procedure to regulate blood flow through the atrial septum. This will help her body gradually adjust, preventing complications such as pulmonary hypertension or heart failure due to sudden blood flow disruption.
The total cost of this critical procedure is estimated at RM90,000, with government aid covering a portion of the expenses. However, RM76,210 is still needed, and her family has exhausted all resources.
Celine’s father, Ong Cheng Keong (46), works as a carpenter with a monthly income of RM2,000, while her mother, Song Siow Lin (46), is an accounting clerk earning RM3,500. They also have two younger sons, aged 15 and 13.
After thorough review, ONE HOPE CHARITY has decided to initiate a fundraising campaign to raise the remaining RM76,210. The family has entrusted the organization with full responsibility for the fundraiser and the collection of donations.
