Urgent Fundraising – Azra Azzahra (Heart Disease)
Description
“Our child was perfectly normal from prenatal check-ups to birth. Learning that she had a congenital heart defect was a huge shock for us. We just want her to grow up safe and healthy. Please help us!”
Four-year-old Azra Azzahra Binti Azlan from Bedong, Kedah, was diagnosed with a hole in her heart at birth. Initially, the condition wasn’t severe, and doctors hoped the hole would close on its own over time.
In recent years, Azra has shown signs of a pale complexion and has complained of chest pain at school. After a follow-up examination, it was discovered that the hole had enlarged and is now near the heart valve. As her condition continues to worsen, doctors have recommended urgent surgery. Her desperate parents are now seeking to raise RM65,000 for the operation.
【Doctors Advised That If the Heart Defect Does Not Close by Age 5, Surgery Will Be Necessary】
During pregnancy, Azra Azzahra’s mother had normal prenatal check-ups. After a full-term birth, the joyful parents took their baby home. However, the next day, Azra was readmitted due to jaundice. During this stay, doctors detected a heart murmur and referred her to the general hospital for a detailed examination.
The examination revealed a hole in Azra’s heart. Since the condition wasn’t severe, surgery wasn’t immediately required. The doctors advised the family to continue monitoring her condition until she turned two, with no need for medication. After a week in the hospital, Azra was discharged, with regular follow-up visits scheduled.
At her two-year follow-up, tests indicated a leak in the heart valve. Despite this, Azra showed no symptoms or cyanosis, so surgery was not necessary at the time.
Recently, Azra began experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath. Further tests revealed the hole had moved closer to the heart valve, diagnosing her with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Aortic Regurgitation (AR). Doctors recommended urgent surgery, but the RM65,000 required for the operation has become a heavy burden for her parents.
Her father, Azlan bin Abdul Halim, 35, is disabled due to severe injuries from a past car accident, limiting his ability to stand or sit for long periods. Despite receiving welfare assistance, he works as a helper at a satay stall, earning a daily wage of RM70. Her mother, Nur Azmira binti Azmi, also 35, is a housewife and currently pregnant with their fourth child, due in August. Azra has a six-year-old elder sister and a three-year-old younger sister.
After a home visit and evaluation, One Hope Charity has decided to raise the necessary RM65,000 for Azra’s surgery and will take full responsibility for the fundraising. For inquiries, please contact the hotline: 04-539 9212, 016-419 2192, 019-232 2192, or 018-911 4192.
