A 66-year-old single Chinese woman experienced multiple falls at home, resulting in weakened legs and requiring care from her equally single sister. ONE HOPE CHARITY provided assistance by supplying diapers to alleviate her sister’s burden and lending a walking cane to help her move around the house gradually.

Oo Moy Geok (66) fell at home towards the end of 2022 and suddenly lost consciousness. She was hospitalized, where doctors discovered a brain hemorrhage and a urinary tract infection. She was able to return home after treatment but also suffered from bedsores. Her sister, who lives with her, took on the responsibility of cleaning her wounds and taking care of her daily needs. At that time, she couldn’t walk and needed diapers daily. Her sister had to quit her job to take care of her full-time.

Earlier this year, her legs gradually healed, allowing her to walk. However, she fell again due to unsteady steps and was hospitalized. After some time in the hospital, she returned home to recuperate and now needs a walking cane for support while walking.

The sisters live in a flat in Butterworth and, having lost their source of income, applied for assistance from ONE HOPE CHARITY. ONE HOPE CHARITY sent representatives to visit their home, and the board approved the provision of diapers and the loan of a walking stick.
