A family of six relies on the meager wages of the father to make ends meet. The expenses of their 10-month-old baby has increased the financial burden on the family. They received assistance from One Hope Charity for the baby’s milk powder and diapers.

37-year-old woman, Ang Guen Hao from Butterworth, Penang and her husband have four children. The family of six relies on her husband’s meager income to sustain their livelihood. Her 52-year-old husband is a freelance painter, earning approximately RM1500 per month.

Guen Hao once sold stationery outside shop houses to help supplement the family income, earning around RM25 a day. She also worked as a dishwasher in a coffee shop but had to stop due to her pregnancy and get hand eczema when she was six months pregnant. Currently, she is unable to work because she needs to take care of her 10-month-old daughter.

The couple has four children, aged between 10 months and 12 years old. Their 12-year-old, 10-year-old, and 8-year-old children all attend the same Chinese primary school, while their youngest daughter is only 10 months old. The expenses for children’s necessities have significantly increased the family’s burden. Monthly expenses at home also include house rent and school bus fees for three of the children. They rely on the husband’s meager income and assistance from the Social Welfare Department to make ends meet has resulted in frequent financial shortfalls.

Upon receiving the request for assistance, One Hope Charity sent representatives to conduct a home visit. The board of directors decided to assist the family with the baby’s milk powder and diapers, helping to alleviate their financial burden.
